In 2019, Gray & Dick celebrated the architectural feat of installing the largest Sky-Frame sliding door in Scotland. Standing at an impressive 4 metres tall, the ceiling-height glass facade honours spatial design and minimalist architecture in which the view takes centre stage.
Simplicity at the Heart of Design
A door does not have to be purely functional. It can be an architectural feature that truly defines a space. Seamlessly blending a modernist design with luxurious materials, Gray & Dick’s largest Sky-Frame installation defines modern British architecture. Mounted in streamlined aluminium frames fitted flush from floor to ceiling, the Sky-Frame system rolls fluidly in residential spaces and commercial properties.
Sky-Frame was key in this project to provide a feeling of vast, wide-open space, even when the doors are closed. This particular door installation allowed for a seamless transition from the home into the garden, merging the kitchen and dining room into the garden. Revolutionising open space living, Sky-Frame allows for an even distribution of external light, making the interior airier and practical when it comes to keeping the property warm.
The Sky’s The Limit
When it comes to the Sky-Frame, the sky’s the limit, and this can be seen from our past projects like Ladies Lake and Pavilion. Sky-Frame Classic panels are supplied as standard at 2.3m × 4m, but larger sizes are available on request, and Gray & Dick welcome enquiries for large Sky-Frame projects. As a long-standing installation and service partner of Sky-Frame, we are proud to have Scotland and the North UK’s first showroom. Located just six miles from Glasgow city centre, the showroom offers the perfect opportunity to see what makes this frameless sliding door system stand out in the world of architecture.
